New version on the way

Hi everyone, you might have noticed label geeks has been silent for the past month.

The reason is we’ve been working furiously on the new version of ecolabelling.org. It still needs some tweaking, but we’d love to get your thoughts on it here: http://beta.ecolabelling.org/

The new site will run on Drupal 6, with SOLR search and panel functionality built in. This means a much deeper search capacity, as well as the ability to quickly add all sorts of interesting applications.

Here’s a list of what we’re considering, let us know if any of these jump out at you:

  • Click to ‘like’ this label
  • Performance Indicators for labels
  • Data Export - PDF, XML, CSV, TSV
  • ‘Staff pick’ field for labels
  • Deep Faceting (search by metric - like paper + independently verified)
  • Register as an Ecolabel Organisation (labels can update their own data)
  • Comment on a Label
  • Service provider directory (groups who specialise in working with labels)
  • Compare ecolabels
  • Text message gateway application
  • Create method of accessing glossary definitions from defined terms
  • iPhone application

Hello,

I just wrote you an email about wanting to be able to sort your database more thoroughly, and then I saw your plans for the new version. All of your proposed ideas sound fantastic! When do you expect to roll out the new website?

Thank you!!
Amy

Hi Amy, thank you! we are almost ready for the new version.

I think we’ll roll out a soft-launch next week and then prioritize the feature set above based on user-feedback for roll out in May.

What do you think so far? - http://beta.ecolabelling.org/
